Four volleyball confederations’ top 16 nations will compete in the VNL). It is one of the leading international indoor competitions put on by the FIVB, the organisation that governs the sport. There were some minor changes post which the final roster for the tournament was made. The changes resulted from the 2022 Nations League and the 2022 Challenger Cup. Australia was replaced by debutants Cuba in this edition.
Saturday will see South Korea and China at the loggerheads in round 3. China currently sits in the sixth position. While on the other hand, the South Korean side is in a perilous position based on their current position. South Korea continue to languish at the bottom of the table in the sixteenth position. South Korea and China last met in last year’s Nations League. In the last encounter, the Chinese side thrashed the Korean side. China eventually won the game 3-1.
This time however a lot is at stake, especially for the Korean side who are almost eliminated from the Nations League. The Korean Republic will enter the match after getting a beating from Dominican Republic (3-0). The Chinese side on the other hand also fell short against Dominican in a remarkable match (2-3). Thus to look at it holistically, the Korean side has its job cut out. However, both teams are going to give their all as this will be the penultimate threshold for both the teams. Round 3 starts on the 27th of June.
