Hande Baladin is a Turkish professional volleyball player who primarily plays as an outside hitter in both her club and national teams. Baladin started playing volleyball as a middle blocker in the youth and junior teams of Eczacibasi Dynavit in Istanbul. However, since 2014, she plays as an opposite spiker. Baladın is a member of the women’s national volleyball team and wears the number 7 jersey. Recently, she won the Volleyball Club World Championship against Vakifbank Spor Kulubu. Over the years, Baladin has been a recipient of a plethora of awards as well which include Best Blocker (2013), Best Outside Spiker (2017) and Most Valuable Player (2017). Baladin’s career started with Eczacibasi VitrA where she spent the 2013-14 season. Subsequently, she was loaned out to Sarıyer Belediyespor along with four other players from the youth team of Eczacibasi Vitra. After a year she returned to her home team and won the 2016 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship. Subsequently, she went for yet another loan spell at Galatasaray from 2018-19. In 2019, she joined her present club Eczacibasi Dynavit and won the recently concluded 2023 Volleyball Club World Championships.
On the other hand, Baladin’s international career is as successful as his club career. In July 2011, she was admitted to the Turkey girls’ youth national team. Subsequently, she played in the national team at the 2011 Balkan Championships held in Tirana, Albania on 12–18 July. Although the Turkish team could not win the championship; the girls were ranked fourth. Baladın also won the bronze medal with the national team at the 2013 Girls’ Youth European Volleyball Championship held in Serbia and Montenegro. Moreover, she was selected “Best blocker” of the championship. The watershed moment in her career, however, was winning the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Cup in 2023 in Japan. The next target for the 26-year-old is conquering the Olympics.
