What is the format of the 2023 Silver European League?

6 teams per gender will once again compete in the Silver League. Teams play each other twice in the double round-robin format of the competition—once at home and once away. As in previous years, there are a lot of things up for grabs. This includes € 125,000 for the eventual winners in each gender and the opportunity for the two finalists in each gender to earn a spot in this summer’s 2023 FIVB Volleyball Challenger Cup. In addition to this, the winner of the Silver European League directly gets promoted to the Golden European League. And in 2024, the team that finishes last will be demoted to the Silver League. The CEV invested about € 800,000 in the European League for the 2022 edition alone; 90 matches across all four competitions resulted in more than 250 hours of live streaming and/or broadcasting.

This year the pool is divided into two groups of 3 teams each. In Pool A, we have Latvia, Cyprus and the Faroe Islands. While Pool B has Austria, Hungary and Georgia. Being the second-tier competition of the CEV, at times this tournament gets overshadowed by the Golden European League. However, with the start of the semifinals and so many things up the grabs, it is surely gonna be an interesting match to look out for.
