Dmitry Muserskiy is a renowned Russian volleyball athlete with Ukrainian roots. He is a prominent member of the Russian national men’s volleyball team and also plays for Japan’s Suntory Sunbirds club. He is renowned for playing a significant role in Team Russia’s Olympic gold medal triumph in 2012, the World Cup in 2011, and the European Championship in 2013. Muserskiy embarked on his volleyball career at just 8 years old, under the guidance of Boris Osnach. His debut for the Russian national team came on June 4, 2010, against the USA in the FIVB World League, where he scored an impressive 13 points.
Muserskiy’s individual accolades began in 2010 when he was named the Best Middle Blocker in the FIVB World League. For his serving skills, he earned the Best Server title in the FIVB World League in 2011. In 2013, he earned another Best Middle Blocker award in the FIVB World League and was also celebrated as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) in both the CEV European Championship and the FIVB World Grand Champions Cup. In 2014, he garnered the Best Middle Blocker in the CEV Champions League and the MVP title in the FIVB Club World Championship.
In 2022, he was recognized as the Best Opposite Spiker at the Asian Club Volleyball Championship. He received the Most Valuable Player at the Asian Club Volleyball Championship, leading his team Suntory Sunbirds to a historic title. In 2021, volleyball player Dmitry Muserskiy received a nine-month ban from the sport after confessing to a doping violation from 2013. Despite this, Russia retained all titles won with Muserskiy’s involvement. This was after the detection of the stimulant methylhexaneamine in his sample during the 2013 Russian National Championships. Muserskiy, a key player in Russia’s 2012 Olympic gold and subsequent European Championship victory, accepted the ban without appeal rights.
