Tammy Abraham expressed his adoration for AS Roma and its supporters after his goal helped his side to secure a 1-0 win against Atalanta on Saturday. The win helped Jose Mourinho’s side to 47 points from 28 games, level on points with fifth-placed Atalanta, who have a game in hand, and three adrift of the top-four. The Englishman joined the Serie A side from Chelsea in a deal worth over EUR 40 million last summer, and has been impressive, having found the back of the net 12 times in 26 league appearances. He has also scored six Europa Conference League goals in as many appearances.

“You can see what it means to us, the fans supported us from the first whistle to the last,” Abraham told DAZN

“You can see the way we celebrated and we can’t describe this feeling, it’s the best when we do it as a team and these are three important points.”

Roma has been in impressive form as they are unbeaten in their last seven games, their last defeat came against Juventus in early January. The two back-to-back 1-0 wins against Spezia and Atalanta has helped Jose Morinho’s side to climb to sixth spot in the league standings.

“Togetherness. We are learning more and more about each other every day. A couple of months ago, we might’ve conceded in the last minute, but today we worked together as a team and fought to the end.

“Now we can enjoy it, go have a drink and celebrate with the fans.”

The fans love me and I love them: Abraham

Abraham scored the winner on 32 minutes courtesy of some brilliant work from Nicolo Zaniolo. The Italian brilliantly controlled a long overhead ball from the midfield and laid it off for Abraham to skip between the centre-backs and slot home past Rui Patricio in the back of the net. The 24-year-old kissed the jersey after the goal and was saluting the supporters throughout the post-match interview.

“Like I said, I give this club my all. There was a low time in my career, Roma lifted me up and gave me that confidence. I enjoy it every time I step on this pitch, you can hear the fans from minute one and I’d do anything for this club. The fans love me and I love them. I love them.”
