AC Milan are reportedly set to make the move for Liverpool forward Divock Origi this summer. The Belgian international’s contract with the Reds expires next month and he has informed the club’s chiefs that he will be leaving when his deal comes to an end. Milan are looking for a younger option up front with Olivier Giroud, 35 and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 40 their main two strikers this season. The 27-year-old has scored six goals and provided four assists in 17 appearances across all competitions for the Reds this season. He is leaving the Premier League club in order to get more game time and Milan seems to be a perfect option if the transfer is completed.

Origi has scored important goals for Liverpool

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Milan have officially informed Liverpool of their desire to sign Origi on a free transfer. The Belgian who has been at Anfield since 2014, has played just 101 minutes in the Premier League this season, however has still managed to provide vital contributions. Over the years, the striker has scored important goals for the Reds including a stoppage-time winner against Everton in the Premier League in 2018.

Origi is struggling to get regular playing time in Liverpool

The 27-year-old also scored a brace for the Reds in their 4-0 comeback triumph over Barcelona in the emphatic Champions League semi-final tie in 2019. Despite being highly talented he has spent the majority of his career as a bit-part player. The presence of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and now Luis Diaz has certainly made it difficult for him to find a place in the starting eleven on a regular basis. As it stands he is sixth in the pecking order.

AC Milan are inches away from securing the Scudetto

AC Milan are currently placed on top of the Serie A standings, two points clear of second-placed Inter Milan with two games remaining. The Rossoneri will next host Atalanta on Sunday and if they take all three points and Inter fail to win against Cagliari the next day, Milan will clinch the Scudetto for the first time in 11 years.
