India will send a 16-member contingent to the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 archery stage 3 in Singapore which will start from June 05 and end on June 10.
Asian Archery Championships is the premier archery championship organized by the World Archery Asia. It has been held biannually over the years. Earlier it only had one discipline in the tournament. However, since 2001 it has included both the discipline of recurve and compound. The tournament began in 1980 when it was hosted for the first time in India. Over the years many countries such as South Korea, China, Japan, and India compete, with many of the world’s leading archers representing them.
A 16-member Indian contingent will head on to the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 archery stage 3 in Singapore. The 2023 Asia Cup is scheduled to be held in the month of June. Bukit Gombak Active SG Stadium will serve as the venue for the entire tournament. The 16 participants who will be competing in the tournament have been divided into groups of two. Eight participants will be competing in the recurve category. While the other eight will be competing in the compound category. The Singapore meet will feature over 200 archers from 22 Asian countries.

While Parth Salunke who was part of the gold medal-winning team from the 2021 youth championships, will also be in action. Stage 1 of the Asia Cup 2023 archery was held in Taoyuan, Chinese Taipei, in March. Indian archers finished with 10 medals – five gold, four silver and one bronze. Tashkent hosted stage 2 of the continental event last month. The Indian archery team ended the leg with 14 medals – seven golds, five silvers and two bronzes – across the compound and recurve events. The first round of qualifications will begin on Tuesday, i.e. 6th June. The promising performance of Indian archers gives the country hope to stand against traditional heavyweights of the sport like South Korea.
