Legendary Indian boxer Mary Kom was appointed as Chef de Mission for India’s contingent for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Moreover, India’s top paddler, Sharath Kamal, will be the flagbearer for the main day. Interestingly, Mary and men’s hockey team captain Manpreet Singh were India’s flagbearers at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.
“These appointments represent a blend of experience, expertise, and leadership that will contribute significantly to the success of putting athletes on the global stages,” the IOA press release said. “Leading the delegation as the Chef de Mission will be none other than the iconic boxer, Mary Kom. Her unparalleled dedication to sports and inspiring journey make her a natural choice to guide and mentor our athletes at the Olympics.”
“We are delighted to have such a distinguished and capable team of officials leading our contingent for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games,” IOA president PT Usha said on key officials’ appointments. “Their expertise, dedication and passion for sports will undoubtedly inspire our athletes to achieve their best and make the nation proud.”

Mary Kom will be assisted by Shiva Keshavan who has been appointed as the Deputy Chef de Mission. Shiva, a six-time Olympian and first Indian representative in Luge at Winter Olympics will bring a bag full of experience to the table.
On the other hand, Olympic bronze medalist Indian shooter Gagan Naran will oversee the operations in the shooting village. His meticulous approach and understanding of athlete needs will ensure a conducive environment for our shooters. Moreover, to ensure the well-being of our athletes, Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala has been appointed as the Chief Medical Officer. Dinshaw’s expertise and commitment will be an invaluable asset to the athletes.

Mr. G Rajaraman will be the IOA’s Press Attaché for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Mr. G Rajaraman brings a wealth of experience in sports journalism and communications, having served in various capacities in the sports industry. His expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring effective media coverage and communication strategies during the prestigious event.
Finally, Mr Sarvesh Kedia, with his background in digital marketing and social media management, will spearhead IOA’s social media initiatives. Kedia’s main task will be to engage fans and followers across platforms and showcase the journey of Indian athletes at the Games.
