Arjan Bhullar was brought into this world on May 13, 1986, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Hailing from immigrant parents, Avtar Bhullar and his mother from Punjab, India came with strong values and traditions. In addition to instilling Arjan with the utmost appreciation for his cultural background as he grew up in their traditional Punjabi house. Bhullar developed a strong passion for wrestling really early on in his life due his father being a wrestler himself.
Arjan Bhullar’s MMA career started with freestyle wrestling. He won the NAIA wrestling championship twice, setting the stage for his future success. Bhullar’s early accomplishments were not only limited to university level contests. He proudly represented Canada on the international stage of wrestling. And earned himself a gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. These accomplishments laid the foundation for his eventual transition into MMA.
Arjan Bhullar transitioned from wrestling to MMA naturally, given his strong foundation in combat sports. In 2017, he etched his name in history as the first fighter of Indian descent who signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Bhullar had his UFC debut in September 2017, against Luis Henrique and won via unanimous decision. Bullar had his second UFC fight against Adam Wieczorek on April 14, 2018, during UFC on Fox 29. Although he dominated the match during the first round but soon submitted in the second round. Bhullar’s last fight in the UFC was against Juan Adams on May 4, 2019, during UFC Fight Night 151, where he won the match via another unanimous decision.
On July 3, 2019, ONE Championship offered Bhullar a contract. On May 2021, Bhullar accomplished a remarkable feat in combat sports. He overpowered Brandon Vera and won the ONE Championship Heavyweight World Champion title. This victory is significant, as he became the first-ever Indian-origin fighter to claim a major world championship in MMA promotions worldwide. Recently, Bhullar fought and lost against Anatoly Malykhin on ONE Friday FIghts 22.
Arjan Bhullar has earned immense success in MMA, resulting in a substantial net worth. Although exact figures of his earnings remain undisclosed to the public, it’s likely that his income from fights, endorsements, and sponsorships have contributed to his financial achievement. As of 2023, he is reportedly worth nearly $1 million. This reflects both his professional achievements and status as a prominent figure within the world of MMA.
