Cat Zingano isn’t exactly thrilled with Bellator featherweight champion Cris Cyborg. Even describes their relationship as less than friendly. According to Zingano, Cyborg has engaged in some questionable behavior and made inappropriate comments that have soured their dynamic.
Zingano expressed her disappointment during an interview on The MMA Hour. She stated that she used to have a lot of respect for Cyborg. They even had mutual friends and acquaintances. However, things have taken a turn for the worse. Zingano is puzzled by Cyborg’s recent actions.
Zingano is currently preparing for a title fight that is scheduled for late September or early October. There have been rumors of potential acquisitions and changes within the fight promotion. It could significantly impact her colleagues’ contracts. While Zingano isn’t fond of the idea. She understands that her focus needs to remain on her immediate job at hand.
Zingano joined Bellator with an advantage over other competitors. It didn’t take long for her to catch Cyborg’s attention. Leading to a series of exchanges that became increasingly heated. Zingano accused Cyborg of cheating and avoiding fights. But the situation escalated when Cyborg or someone affiliated with her purchased a website with Zingano’s full fight name and turned it into a promotional platform for Cyborg’s achievements.
Zingano found the incident strange and unsettling. She wondered why Cyborg was so fixated on her and engaging in such behavior. Zingano admitted that it made her want to confront Cyborg physically. Although she understood the consequences of doing so. She even contemplated obtaining a restraining order due to what she considered creepy and stalker-like conduct.
Zingano remains focused on her upcoming fight. She sees it as an opportunity to claim a major title from a fighter who is widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound in the sport. While dealing with bullying is an unfortunate part of the job, Zingano is determined to rise above it.
Zingano acknowledged that the fight business often involves trash talk and building hype. But she couldn’t help but find Cyborg’s recent behavior strange and out of the ordinary. She remains committed to her own goals and refuses to let Cyborg’s actions distract her from the task at hand.
