Dodson cornered Ridge and landed a series of violent punches, but it was a left hand that dropped Ridge seconds after.
In an impressive demonstration of skill and determination, John Dodson, a former UFC flyweight contender, achieved his first-ever championship belt in combat sports. He had the honour of headlining Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship 48 right in his hometown of Albuquerque, NM. Dodson competed against JR Ridge for the inaugural flyweight gold.
The showdown between Dodson and Ridge was quick but intense. Dodson wasted no time in displaying his skill, launching a flurry of powerful punches that left Ridge trapped. In the midst of the exchange, it was a forceful left hook from Dodson that knocked Ridge down, leading to claims of an eye poke and a shove. Despite the protest, the doctor examined Ridge and allowed the fight to continue, resulting in both fighters engaging in a high-speed brawl.
Dodson’s dominance grew increasingly evident as the round continued. With only seconds remaining, he landed another knockdown, rendering Ridge unable to regain his footing. Dodson’s victory was solidified with a first-round TKO, thus earning him the esteemed title of the inaugural BKFC flyweight champion.
