One of the most memorable moments in Mousasi’s UFC career took place on April 8, 2017. It was during a face-off against Chris Weidman. This match ended in a TKO with Mousasi emerging victorious again.
Gegard Mousasi’s move to Bellator MMA in 2017. He made his debut fight in Bellator on October 20, 2017, facing off against Alexander Shlemenko. Mousasi showcased his technical expertise and striking prowess, ultimately claiming a unanimous decision victory. On May 25, 2018, Mousasi faced Rafael Carvalho in a battle for the coveted Bellator Middleweight Championship. Mousasi won the belt via TKO in the very first round. He then went on to defend his title against Rory MacDonald but later lost it to Rajael Lovato Jr.
Mousasi then faced Douglas Lima for the Vacant Bellator Middleweight World Championship on October 29, 2020. The match was hard fought and Mousasi won via unanimous decision. Mousasi then had his first successful title defense against John Salter and later Austin Vanderford, both via TKO. Most recently he faced a loss against Favian Edwards via unanimous decision.
