Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) remain bereft of an Indian Premier League (IPL) title. However, in IPL 2022 plenty of things are expected to differ in their approach, with former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis taking over the reins from Virat Kohli, in a new-look side recruited at the mega auction.

The Bangalore-franchise conducted their opening session ahead of the IPL 2022 with few players from the squad on Thursday evening with head coach Sanjay Bangar and director of cricket operations overlooking the proceedings and interacting with the players.

Bangar highlighted while addressing the players that the squad will look to churn out something special in IPL 2022 in their bid to maiden IPL title.

“Welcome all of you. You all bring a lot of skill sets along with you whether you have played a lot of cricket or you are just starting as Aneeshwar (Gautam) is. We have full confidence in your abilities,” Sanjay Bangar addressed the RCB squad during their maiden practice session ahead of IPL 2022 as quoted by royalchallengers.com.

“The next couple of days, we are going to be easing you in the RCB structure. We are going to do a few special things this season which is not possible without your contribution and without you.”

Mike Hesson excited after meeting the new bunch

RCB roped in some fresh talents in the form of Wanindu Hasaranga, Anuj Rawat, Akash Deep, Mahipal Lomror, Finn Allen, Suyash Prabhudessai, Chama Milind, Aneeshwar Gautam, Karn Sharma, Siddharth Kaul, Luvnith Sisodia from the IPL mega auction.

The RCB director of cricket operations also mentioned that the lot has been separated into two groups to look at how they perform during training and analyze their capabilities better.

“It is actually just nice to meet the guys. The ones that you have watched on videos, the ones that you watched from far, you can try and sit down with them and have a cup of coffee with them and talk about their game. It is exciting,” Hesson said.

“It is the fresh part about a new group, isn’t it? There is definitely a huge amount of excitement here (pointing to the nets). There are also a lot of unknowns which is also nice.

“We have purposely separated them into two groups so that we can actually get a lot of work into them today and we will be doing the same again tomorrow.”
