Young fast bowler Rajvardhan Hangargekar is one for the future. He was a part of India’s U-19 World Cup triumph in 2022 and grabbed eyeballs by bowling at 141.7 kph in the semi-finals of the junior marquee team. He was, then, picked up by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL mega auction for Rs. 1.5 crore which not only gives him a chance to prove his mettle and make a case for the senior team but also learn from the best — MS Dhoni.

The small town boy from Maharashtra’s Marathwada has already latched on to that opportunity and started to take important lessons from the inspiring CSK captain. However, MS Dhoni doesn’t want him to change anything in cricket but rather world on his football skills.

“On the first day of practice, MS bhai told me just go with what you are already doing. Don’t change anything. Just keep doing what you have been doing really well. That was a really good piece of advice for me, that I have the freedom to do what I’m doing,” Rajvardhan Hangargekar said at ‘Witness the #PowerOf7’, an event hosted by the India Cements, attended by CSK players.

“He has been told to improve his football skills!,” Dhoni chipped in.

“I’m really grateful to the CSK family for giving me this opportunity. I will give my everything on the field for the team and make CSK proud again.”

“We are enjoying the practice in Surat and the facilities here. Everything is like what we want, what others are doing in preparation for the IPL. It’s like one of the perfect things going on right now. We are enjoying it a lot, that is more important and we are working in the right way,” he said.

“It’s a big journey that CSK have been through. We will try to continue. From my side, I’m trying to support the team more. The journey for me will be great this year. We will try to make it big and whistle podu!”
