Australia Test captain Pat Cummins will be available for KKR selection for the their upcoming IPL 2022 contest against five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Wednesday.

Cummins, who joined the KKR camp on Friday, after his appearance for the national team for their limited-overs against Pakistan has undergone his three-day mandatory quarantine period and will look to boost the franchise set-up.

KKR head coach Brendon McCullum was elated on the availability of Cummins as he believes that it will ignite a happy selection headache in the camp with the Australian boosting their leadership group along side captain and prolific India batter Shreyas Iyer.

“Pretty delighted to get Pat back. He is a wonderful human being and can blend with the environment easily.” McCullum said in an official statement.

“We have got a few selection headaches. We have more options now to pick from, which is a good problem, and hopefully, we get them right

“He is one of the best bowlers in the league. He is frequently taking wickets and making valuable contributions to the team’s triumph.”

KKR head coach Brendon McCullum wary of might Mumbai Indians

KKR have made a fine start to their IPL 2022 campaign under new captain Iyer by winning two out of their three matches to sit second in the points table.

The Mumbai-franchise, meanwhile, have started in their traditional fashion as they lost two matches on the trot. However, the Rohit Sharma-led side, will be itching to get their campaign started with a win over in-form KKR.

But the KKR head coach is wary of their strengths and weaknesses.

“Mumbai are Mumbai! We know what they are capable of. They know what they are doing. We respect them, their management, the coaching staff and the leadership.”
