With their playoff chance on the line, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will face Mumbai Indians (MI), who are already eliminated from the playoff race in the match 65 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. SRH are on a losing streak and have lost their last five matches. They were among the favourites to qualify for the playoffs halfway through the ongoing campaign but things went sour pretty soon. SRH have to win their remaining two matches by a significant margin to keep themselves in the race.

MI’s season came to a close early as they languish at the bottom of the table. They found some kind of form recently and have won three of their last four matches. In a season filled with setbacks, the former champions will look to find relief by ending the season on a high. They will be confident in doing so after beating their arch-rivals CSK in their last match. The mini battles fought by the key players on both sides will form the final picture.

MI vs SRH: Let’s take a look at the three-player battles

Ishan Kishan vs Umran Malik

Ishan Kishan hasn’t lived up to his billing of being the most expensive buy of the IPL 2022 mega auction. The pressure might have had its bearing on the youngster as he had an inconsistent campaign. However, the Mumbai opener has managed 327 runs in 12 matches. His strokeplay has been the biggest issue as the aggressive batter has scored at a strike rate of just 108.43 in the powerplay. Ishan will be up against Umran Malik, who has been breathing fire with his raw pace. The SRH speedster had a slump after his five-wicket haul against Gujarat Titans but made a strong comeback in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders by claiming three wickets. The contest between the youngsters will be interesting.

Kane Williamson vs Jasprit Bumrah

SRH skipper Kane Williamson is going through a rough patch and hasn’t lived up to his potential in the ongoing campaign of the IPL. The New Zealander has scored just one 50 in 12 innings so far this season. The stage is set for the captain to step up and deliver as his team is in dire need of a big win. He is a player for the big occasions and is capable of doing just that. MI’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah was struggling to find his usual rhythm in the IPL 2022 but has returned to form after scalping five wickets against KKR. The contest between the experienced campaigners could turn out to be crucial.

Aiden Markram vs Daniel Sams

Aiden Markram was arguably the most consistent player on the SRH side. He has played spin and pace alike and will be one of the key players for his team. Despite his team going through a rough patch, the South African has delivered consistently. He will be facing the likes of Daniel Sams in the Mumbai bowling unit. The left-arm pacer has come up with fine spells of bowling and this contest can prove to be crucial in the final outcome of the match.
