However, this was Virat Kohli’s fourth golden duck in the cash-rich IPL. Before tonight, he has been dismissed the first ball against Mumbai Indians in 2008, Punjab Kings in 2014 and Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017 as well. Kohli has been going through a tough time this season so far, scoring 119 runs from seven matches at an average of 23.80. Before this, Virat Kohli was run out twice too. His only two notable scores have been an unbeaten 41 against Punjab Kings in RCB’s first match and 48 against Mumbai Indians so far as well.

As far as the game is concerned, put in to bat, RCB were reduced to 47/3 at the end of the Powerplay. Chameera removed Rawat and Virat Kohli off consecutive deliveries before Krunal Pandya put a brake on Glenn Maxwell’s quickfire cameo of 23 off 11 balls, including three fours and a six as well. However, RCB captain Faf du Plessis led from the front and his swashbuckling knock of 96 ensured that RCB put up a decent total of 181/6. An important 70-run partnership between du Plessis and Shahbaz Ahmed helped them bounce back in the game and score over the 180-run mark as well.
