Veer Ahlawat of Gurugram played a final round four-under 62 to win by three shots in the Pune Open Golf Championship to win his second professional title. Ahlawat finished the competition with a score of 19-under 245. The victory allowed him to advance six spots to number 11, on the Tata Steel PGTI Order of Merit for 2022. The overnight leader by one stroke, Ahlawat got off to a shaky start with a birdie and bogey on the second and third holes. The golfer then accelerated, making birdies on the seventh, ninth, 10th, and 11th holes to create a lead that handed him the victory. Kapil Kumar of Delhi came in second at 16-under 248 after shooting a 64 in the final round.
Kapil began cautiously, hitting a shot on the fourth for his sole birdie before the turn. On the back nine, he birdied the 11th hole before bogeying the 13th. Kapil quickly recovered to record two back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th holes to finish his round at two-under 64 for the day. Yashas Chandra MS of Mysore finished tied third with Sri Lankan N Thangaraja, with equal total scores of 15-under 249. Manu Gandas of Gurugram and Rashid Khan of Noida tied for fifth place with identical scores of 14-under 250.
