Western Sydney Wanderers FC will be aiming to continue their impressive start to the 2022-23 A-League campaign, when they host Central coast Mariners at CommBank Stadium on Saturday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a convincing 2-0 win over Newcastle Jets on Friday, while Central Coast Mariners came from behind to get the better of Western United 4-2, a day later. WSW are currently occupying second spot in the standings, having collected 10 points from their opening four games, level on points with leaders Melbourne City but separated by goal-difference. The visitors, meanwhile, have a game in hand and are sitting at the seventh position, with four points to their name.

Wanderers began their league campaign with back-to-back wins against Perth Glory (1-0) and Melbourne Victory (1-0), before playing out a 1-1 draw against Brisbane Roar. Last time out, against Newcastle Jets, the Western Sydney netted two times without reply to take all three points at home. Romain Amalfitano broke the deadlock on the stroke of half time, before Brandon Borrello doubled the lead six minutes into the second half.

The Mariners, on the other hand, have made a mixed start to the campaign, having recorded one win, a draw and a defeat thus far. The Coastoes showed great character to register their  first win of the season against Western United last time out.  After going down by two goals in the opening half, the Yellow and Navy came out all guns blazing in the second half and netted four times to secure the win. Jason Cummings, Beni N’Kolo, Jacob Brett Farrell and Paul Ayongo scored for the Mariners.
