Tottenham have made an impressive start to their new life under Ange Postecoglu, having recorded four wins and two draws from their opening six league games so far. Spurs went into the North London Derby last weekend, on the back of a four successive wins against the likes of Manchester United, Bournemouth, Burnley and Sheffield United, but failed to take all three points against a well oiled Gunners. Spurs twice came from behind to earn a draw at Emirates Stadium thanks to Son Heung-min’s brace from a pair of James Maddison’s assists. Meanwhile, the result ended Tottenham’s three-game losing streak at the Emirates.
Liverpool, who had finished outside the top four in the Premier League last term, kicked off their 2023-24 campaign with a lacklustre 1-1 draw away to Chelsea on August 13. However, Jurgen Klopp’s men have since looked like their old foes, recording seven successive win in all competitions, scoring a whopping twenty goals and conceding just six in the process. The Reds welcomed Leicester to the Anfield for their EFL Cup third round tie on Wednesday night and came from a goal down to secure the victory thanks to second-half efforts from Cody Gakpo, Dominik Szoboszlai and Diogo Jota. Moreover, Liverpool have not lost to Spurs since the 4-1 defeat in October 2017, and completed a double over the North London outfit last term.
