Hull City will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to eight games in the EFL Championship when they play host to Plymouth Argyle at MKM Stadium on Saturday. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a comprehensive 3-1 win away to Stoke City last weekend, while Plymouth thrashed Norwich 6-2 last time out. The Tigers are currently occupying fifth spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 15 points from eight second tier games, six points adrift of the top two, while the visitors are sitting at the 12th position, with ten points to their name.

Hull kicked off their 2023-24 campaign with back-to-back defeats against Norwich and Doncaster in the Championship and EFL Cup respectively. But the Tigers have since bounced back, stitching together a seven game unbeaten run in the second tier, recording four wins and three draws in the process. Liam Rosenior’s men got the better of Stoke at Bet365 Stadium last Sunday thanks to one goal each from Aaron Connolly, Adama Traore and Regan Slater. The Tigers have kept two clean sheets and have not conceded more than one goal in any of their last six outings. Now bound to be full of confidence, Hull will aim to continue building momentum with another three-point haul on Saturday.

Plymouth, on the other hand, have had a mixed Championship campaign thus far, recording three wins, four defeats and one draw from their eight league-games. The newly promoted outfit started their new campaign with back-to-back wins over Huddersfield Town and Leyton Orient in the Championship and EFL Cup respectively, but then went on a four-game winless run in the in all competitions, including three successive defeats against Southampton, Birmingham and Crystal Palace. Although the Pilgrims bounced back by thrashing Blackburn 3-0 in the league before the international break, they were handed defeats by Preston North End and Bristol City on their return to action earlier this month. Nevertheless, they again bounced back with a dominant 6-2 victory over Norwich last weekend, thanks to Morgan Whittaker’s hat-trick and one goal each from Dan Scarr, Finn Isaac Azaz and Luke Cundle. Now with some renewed confidence Steven Schumacher’s men are aiming to secure back-to-back league-wins for the first time this season.
