Torino is set to host on Monza in a Serie A mid-table clash at Olimpico di Torino on Sunday afternoon. Both sides are are currently locked on 45 points in the Italian top standings, with the hosts occupying 11th spot, while Monza are sitting one place above them, separated by goal-difference. Meanwhile the reverse fixture between these two sides in August last year ended 2-1 in favour of Toro courtesy of Aleksey Miranchuk’s opener on the stroke of half-time and Antonio Sanabria’s 66th-minute effort.

Torino are heading into the match on the back of a convincing 2-0 win away to rock bottom side Sampdoria in the mid-week. Ivan Juric’s side secured their 12th league-win of the season against Bluecerchiati on Tuesday night thanks to Alessandro Buongiomo’s opener on the half-hour mark and Pietro Pellegrini’s 94th-minute effort. Meanwhile Toro have not won any of their last four home fixtures ahead of Monza’s visit this weekend, taking just a solitary point from a possible 12 in Turin since mid-march. Torino’s home-form in the league has been very poor this term, having won only five of their 16 games at Olimpico di Torino. Nevertheless, Juric’s side have the sixth best away record in the top flight, collecting 25 points from a possible 51 so far. 

Monza, on the other hand, are heading into the match on the back of a hard-fought 1-1 draw against European challengers AS Roma on Wednesday night courtesy of Luca Caldirola’s 39th-minute equalsier. Prior to that, Biancorossi got the better of Spezia courtesy of two unanswered goals from Patrick Ciurria and Carlos Augusto. It was their 12th top flight victory of the season. Monza are unbeaten in their last four league-games on the road, taking eight points in the period.

Sunday’s fixture in Turin will be the 22nd meeting between these two sides cross all competitions. Toro have a clear dominance when it comes to the head-to-head record, having prevailed on 13 occasion, while Monza have won only once and seven encounters have ended in draws. the White and Reds’s lone success came way back in 1990 when these two clubs were competing in the second tier of Italian football.
