Stoke City will be bidding to extend their unbeaten streak to six games in the EFL Championship when they host Bristol City at Bet365 stadium on Friday. The hosts secured a dominant 4-0 win over Coventry City last weekend, while Bristol played out a 1-1 draw against Reading. The victory helped the Potters to move to 13th spot in the English second tier standings, having collected 51 points from 39 games, ten points adrift of the top six. The visitors, meanwhile, are sitting one place behind Stoke, trailing by just two points.

Stoke City put four goals past playoff-hopefuls Coventry without reply at Coventry Building Society Arena on Saturday thanks to efforts from Jacob Brown, Tyrese Campbell, Will Smalbone and Ki-Jana Hoever. It was Stoke’s 14th second tier victory of the season. The result extended their unbeaten run to five games, winning three matches during that period, scoring 13 goals and conceding just four. Although a charge for the playoff looks beyond them at this stage, Alex Neil’s men are solid contenders to secure a top-half finish. Meanwhile, Stoke have got the fourth-worst home-record in the Championship this term, winning just six of their 19 matches at Bet 365 Stadium.
Bristol City, on the other hand, have collected 19 points from a possible 57 on the road. The Robins have recorded just one win from their last six games, and that lone victory came against relegation battlers Blackpool (2-0) last month, courtesy of second-half efforts from Andreas Weimann and Alex Scott. It was Bristol’s 12 league-win of the campaign and since that victory, the Robins have lost two of their next three matches. Last time out, Nigel Pearson’s side were forced to share the spoils against Reading despite taking the lead through Tommy Conway’s effort on the stroke of half-time. On a positive note, Bristol’s last two visits to Bet365 Stadium have ended in victories, with the latest one coming in April last year, thanks to Jay Sasilva’s lone goal six minutes from time. But this season’s reverse fixture in December ended 2-1 favour of Stoke.
