St Patrick’s put seven goals past UCD last time out thanks to Chris Forrester’s 13th-minute opener, Michael Gallagher’s own goal on the stroke of half-time, Sum Curtis’ effort two minutes into the second half and a brace each from Thomas Lonergan and Jason McClelland. It was their 13th league-win of the season, while Saints have lost only two of their last ten outings, recording seven wins and scoring an impressive 25 goals in the period. Meanwhile, Supersaints have won five home league matches in succession and they have the best home-record in the Irish top flight, taking 25 points from a possible 36 at Richmond Park this term.
Cork City, on the other hand, have won only one league match away from home this season and that lone success came against Drogheda United at the on June 2. Three days later, Rebel Army got the better of Bohemians 2-1 to make it four wins in a row. However, Liam Buckley’s men couldn’t keep up the impressive run, recording two wins and a draw from their last three outings. After back-to-back defeats to Dundalk and Derry City, the Leesiders came-from-behind to earn a point against Drogheda last time out thanks to Joseph O’Brien-Whitmarsh’s equaliser nine minutes from time.
