Prior to that, the Bit’O Red got the better of Derry City thanks to William Fitzgerald’s lone goal inside the opening four minutes. It was their sixth top flight victory of the season. But with just one win to show from their last five outings, Rovers are trailing the leaders by 14 points and have plenty of work to do if they have to challenge for a continental spot. Meanwhile, Sligo haven’t been very great at home this term, with just three wins to show from nine league-games at Showgrounds Sligo so far.
Shamrock, on the other hand, boast the second-best away-record in the league this season, having taken 18 points from nine outings so far. Five of their ten league-wins this term have come on the road. Last time out, Hoops put two goals past Dundalk without reply thanks to Aaron Greene’s brace. The result ended their two-game losing run. Nevertheless, with eighth wins from their last ten games, Shamrock have overtaken Derry City into the summit of the table. and will be aiming to successfully defend their top flight title.
