St Patrick secured their tenth league-win of the season against UCD last time out thanks to Conor Carty’s opener and Noah Lewis’s brace. It was their third consecutive victory, scoring six goals and conceding just two in the period. Having recorded five wins and a defeat from their last six outings, the club from Inchichore are now just four points adrift of the summit. A victory on Monday will help Jon Daly’s side to move level on points with the visitors at the second spot. Meanwhile, Red Army have the second-best home-record in the league, having taken 16 points from a possible 27 so far.
Derry City, on the other hand, have the best away-record in the Irish top flight, collecting 20 points from nine games on the road so far. Their lone away-defeat in the league this season came against Sligo Rover towards the end of May, while six of the other eight away fixtures have ended in victories. After recording four successive victories against the likes of Drogheda, Bohemians, Dundalk and UCD in May, the Candystripes lost out to Sligo before sharing the spoils against Shelbourne last time out. The mini wobble of last two games have seen Derry City surrender the top spot to Shimrock Rovers, having picked up just one point from a possible six. Success for Ruaidhri Higgins’ men on Monday could see them reclaim top spot if they pick up maximum points and Shamrock fail to beat Sligo Rovers.
St Patrick’s probable starting lineup: Lyness, Curtis, Lewis, Brockbank, Breslin, Murphy, Lennon, Forrester, McCormack, Carty, McClelland
Derry City probable starting lineup: Maher, Boyce, Connolly, McJannett, Coll, Doherty, Dummigan, McEleney, Duffy, O’Reilly, McGonigle
