Shakhtar Donetsk will host Real Madrid in a UEFA Champions League fixture at Polish Army stadium on Tuesday night. The reverse fixture between these two sides ended in a 2-1 victory for Real Madrid last week. Rodrygo and Vinicius gave a two-goal lead to Los Blancos, inside the opening half-hour mark, before Shakhtar pulled one back through Oleksandr Zubkov, six minutes from the break. Real Madrid are heading into the match on the back of a narrow 1-0 win over Getafe in a La Liga game on Saturday. The visitors, meanwhile, have not been in action since the clash in Madrid on Wednesday, with their last league match taking place on October 1 against Metalist Kharkiv, recording a 6-1 victory.

Shakhtar gave a good account of themselves at Santiago Bernabeu last week, but the defending champions proved too good for the Ukrainian outfit. Hirnyk are still second in Group F, having collected four points from three games. Their lone Champions League victory of the campaign came against RB Leipzig (4-1) in the opening match on September 6. And then, in the second match, the Ukrainian outfit played out a 1-1 draw against Celtic, before losing to Real Madrid. Shakhtar haven’t reached the knockout stages of the Champions League since the 2017-18 campaign, when they were beaten by Roma in the round of 16.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, have won all of their three group games thus far, to be sitting at the summit of the table, with nine points. Carlo Ancelotti started off with a thumping 3-0 victory over Celtic before defeating RB Leipzig 2-0 and then got the better of Shakhtar. Meanwhile, in the domestic circuit, Los Blancos have been undefeated thus far, having won seven of their eight games to collect 22 points, level with leaders Barcelona in the La Liga standings. Last time out, Real Madrid defeated Getafe courtesy of Eder Militao’s lone goal inside the opening three minutes.

Shakhtar boss Igor Jovicevic is unlikely to make too many changes to the side that started in Madrid last week. Zubkov, who was on the scoresheet in Bernabeu, is likely to lead the line with Mudryk, Sudakov and Bondarenko in support. As for Real Madrid, Militao is suffering from a muscle injury, therefore David Alaba is likely to partner Antonio Rudiger in the central defence. Meanwhile goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is also sidelined with injury along with Dani Cabellos.
Shakhtar Donetsk probable starting lineup: Trubin, Taylor, Bondar, Matviyenko, Konoplya, Stepanenko, Shved, Bondarenko, Sudakov, Mudryk, Zubkov
Real Madrid probable starting lineup: Lunin, Vazquez, Rudiger, Alaba, Mendy, Camavinga, Tchouameni, Keroos, Rodrygo, Benzema, Vinicius
