Romania hopes to build on their win over Finland to move away from the relegation spot against fellow strugglers Montenegro. Nicusor Bancu gave Romania their first victory in this Nations League campaign after four winless games over Finland to stop them from falling off early from a promotion berth in League B Group C. They started the Nations League campaign with a 2-0 loss to Montenegro and a 1-0 defeat to leaders Bosnia & Herzegovina leaving them at the bottom of the table. The win could not come at a better time to uplift their spirit again. Not only that, Romania managed to score for the first time in the three games played. Despite coach Eduard lordanescu booked for his touchline fury, he will be delighted to secure the result that can prove to be crucial ahead in this hotly contested group. Romania haven’t won consecutive games since last year.

Their opponents, Montenegro have little to cherish since their success over the Romanians in the first game this month. The Brave Falcons needed a late strike from Lazio’s Adam Marusic to rescue a 1-1 draw with Bosnia at home to keep them only one point off from the first place in third. This followed the 2-0 loss against Finland. Miodrag Radulovic are eyeing the top spot and believes a healthy run in the next three games will make it possible. Montenegro are confident of taking on Romania again knowing the host this time have managed only one win in four meetings so far. A win will be necessary for them before they face Bosnia and Finland in September.
