AS Roma and Bologna will resume their Serie A campaign following the World Cup break, when they face each other at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday. Both sides were last in competitive action November 13, with the Giallorossi playing out a 1-1 draw against Torino, while Bologna thrashed Sassuolo 3-0. The victory helped the visitors to move to 11th spot in the Italian top flight standings, having accumulated 19 points from 15 games, while Roma are sitting four place above them, separated eight points. Â

Roma are going through a dark patch, having not tasted victory in their last three league-games, that includes a 1-0 defeat against Lazio in the derby on November 6. The Giallorossi shared the spoils against Torino in their last Serie A game, courtesy of Nemanja Matic’s 94th-minute strike which canceled out Karol Linetty’s opener. With the likes of Juventus and Inter Milan finding form, Mourinho’s side quickly needs to get back on track to have any chance of fighting for a Champions League spot.Â
Bologna, on the other hand, had a great spell in October and November, winning four of their last five league-matches. Sinisa Mihajlovic’s side netted three times without reply in their last competitive game against Sassuolo. Michel Aebischer, Marko Arnautovic and Lewis Ferguson found the back of the net for the Petronians. It was their fifth league-win of the campaign, taking their points tally to 19, eight adrift of a European spot and ten clear of the relegation zone.
Roma will be without midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum and striker Andrea Belotti, who are occupying the treatment room because of knee and hamstring injuries respectively. English-man Tammy Abrahan is expected to lead the line, with Zaniolo and Pellegrini in support. As for Bologna, centre-back Kevin Bonifazi and attacker Joshua Zirkzee are sidelined with injuries. Austria international Arnautovic could spearhead the attack, with Aebischer and Soriano occupying the flanks.
Roma possible line-up: Patricio, Mancini, Smaling, Ibanez, Celik, Cristant, Camara, Zalewski, Zaniolo, Pellegrini, Abraham
Bologna possible line-up: Skorupski, Posch, Soumaoro, Lucumi, Lykogiannis, Medel, Dominguez, Aebischer, Ferguson, Soriano, Arnautovic
