India defender Sandesh Jhingan has been linked with a move to an A-League club. After an unsuccessful stint in the Croatian League last season, the centre-back returned to Indian super League (ISL) side ATK Mohun Bagan in the winter. It seems like the 28-year-old’s foreign dream is far from over. According to Talking Football Today, Jhingan has attracted interest from several A-League clubs.

Considering the fact that he had an unsuccessful stint with HNK Sibenik last season, the defender will be extra cautious in taking the decision this time. However, Jhinghan is the kind of person who is not afraid to take risks, is willing to get out of his comfort zone and wants to test himself.

Jhingan’s contract with ATK Mohun Bahan extends till 2025 and the Mariners would want to keep him at the club. But the Kolkata side, as per the clause in the contract, will not come in his way if he plans to make a foreign move.

The India international signed a five year contract with the Mariners after a six-year stint with Kerala Blasters FC. The deal was worth Rs 10 crore, making him the best paid Indian footballer at theat point. But in 2021, Jhingan moved to Croatian top tier club HNK Sibeni, two days after landing in the country, he was injured and barely after four months the defender drew curtains on his European dreams.

Jhingan is arguably India’s best central defender and is a regular in the national team. He made his national team debut in 2015 and has won 36 international caps, scoring four times. He is known for his tough, no-nonsense and courageous defending.

He played for the Kerala Blasters FC between 2014 and 2020 before making the move to the Kolkata club. During his six-year spell with the Kochi side, the defender became a fan favourite and he played a pivotal role in the club making two final appearances in 2014 and 2016.
