Real Madrid will host Cadiz in a La Liga fixture at Santiago Bernabeu on Thursday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a surprise 3-2 defeat to Rayo Vallecano on Monday, while Cadiz played out a goalless draw against Getafe two days earlier. Los Blancos are currently occupying second position in the standings, having collected 32 points from 13 games, five points adrift of leaders Barcelona, who have completed 14 matches. Los Blancos suffered their first league-defeat of the season against Rayo on Monday. Santi Comesana and Alvaro Garcia struck either side of Luka Modric and Eder Militao responses in a thrilling first half. However, in the 67th-minute of the match, Oscar Trejo stepped up and converted a spot kick after Dani Carvajal had handled the ball inside the penalty box. Thibaut Courtois had kept out the initial spot-kick but a retake was ordered after the Belgian was shown to have been off his line. It was Real Madrid’s second defeat in their last four games across all competitions.
Cadiz, on the other hand, have recorded just two league-wins this season. Their latest victory came against Atletico Madrid(3-2 ) on October 29 courtesy of goals from Theo Bongonda, Alex Fernandez and Ruben Sobrino. After that, the Pirates shared the spoils against Getafe. It was a cagey affair at the coliseum Alfonso Perez with very little goal-bound action. Meanwhile Gaston Alvarez and Portu saw red for Getafe deep into second half stoppage time before Cadiz’s Luis Hernandeza was also sent off for an early bath.
Real Madrid probable starting lineup: Courtois, Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Mendy, Modric, Tchouameni, Kroos, Valverde, Rodrygo, Vinicius Jr.
Cadiz probable starting lineup: Ledesma, Carcelen, Cala, Mari, Espino, Ocampo, Emeterio, Fernandez, Bongonda, Sobrino, Lozano
