In the first El Clasico of the season, Real Madrid crushed Barcelona with a commanding 3-1 victory after the previous one ended in a 1-0 loss courtesy of Raphinha under the lights in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 23. Barcelona started with Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha as their front three. Busquets, Pedri and De Jong, who started over La Masia sensation Gavi, played in the middle. At the same time, Kounde and Garcia were paired with Balde and Roberto on the left and right, respectively.

On the other hand, Real Madrid didn’t have the services of their go-to keeper, Courtois. Andriy Lunin started at goal with Militao, Alaba, Carjaval and Mendy as their back four. Modric, Tchoumeni and Kroos were at the heart of the turf for Madrid, with Valverde, Vinicius and Benzema as their front three.

Real Madrid got off to a better start than they had in the previous game, thanks to a ball from Modric to Mendy, who then found Vinicius, whose shot was blocked and diverted wide. Four minutes later, the home team scored their first goal after Kroos was brought to the ground but somehow managed to find Vinicius. Ter Stegan countered Vinicius’ effort, but the ball fell to Benzema, who scored from 15 yards out.

Real Madrid were in a spot of bother after Raphinha put a pass in front of the goal from the right; both Lewandowski and Frenkie De Jong were in attack, but the former put in a slide just to put it over the bar. Two minutes later, Roberto found space again down the right flank and put in a cross to Dembele, only to head it over.

Is October turning into a nightmare for Barcelona?

The constant pressure came to good effect as the Los Blancos doubled their lead courtesy of a stunning strike from Federico Valverde into the bottom corner and helped Madrid take complete control at the capital.

Real Madrid scored their third thanks to a curler from Karim Benzema, only for the referee to stop his celebration seconds after he banged one past the net, deemed offside. However, Barcelona pulled one back after Lewandowski flicked one to Torres and put it into the far corner to give Barcelona a glimmer of hope.

However, the final nail was in the coffin after a penalty was awarded to Rodrygo, who Eric Garcia caught. The Brazilian nailed it beyond the Barcelona keeper to restore Real Madrid’s two-goal cushion. Los Blancos now lead the La Liga race with 25 points in nine games, three points ahead of their rivals, Barcelona.
