According to Sun, Paul Pogba is back on the radar of Real Madrid and the Spanish giants are eyeing a summer swoop for the Frenchman. Therefore, Pogba is free to negotiate a summer transfer to a foreign club from January. Los Blancos will hope that the prospect of playing alongside international teammate Karim Benzema and the seemingly-inbound Kylian Mbappe would convince Pogba to head to the Spanish capital.

If the Frenchman doesn’t sign a new contract he would leave Old Trafford for free at the end of the current season, which is something the English club wouldn’t be very happy with. The Red Devils had spent a then-world record fee of GBP 89.3 million to bring back the playmaker from Juventus in 2016.

According to ABC, Los Blancos are ready to offer him just under GBP 12 million-a-year with a transfer bonus of just over GBP 25 million, to convince him to swap Old Trafford for Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season.

Earlier this week, AS reported that Real Madrid have been sounding out Pogba’s camp for several weeks as they believe signing the Manchester United playmaker would facilitate the arrival of Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain.

Pogba refuses to confirm future destination

Pogba, who rejoined Manchester United five years ago hasn’t been able to live up to the expectations. Although there were few moments of brilliance, his performances have been largely inconsistent.

This week, ESPN reported that Barcelona were one of the several clubs Pogba’s agent Mino Raiola had spoken to about signing the midfielder for a free transfer next summer. Juventus are also keeping a close eye on their former player.

“I always speak to my former Juventus team-mates, like Paulo [Dybala],” Pogba said last week, while in Turin for the Nations League semi-final.

“I’m in Manchester, I’ve still got a contract there for a year and then we’ll see.”

This season Pogba has had a very impressive start to the season, registering seven assists in the Premier League so far. He seems to have found his mojo after the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo this summer. Pogba is enjoying his role on the left side of midfield and proving to be a vital player for United in the middle of the park.

According to Athletic, United have put forward a deal worth around GBP 400,000-a-week. The figure represents a GBP 100,000-a-week increase in the Frenchman’s wages which would make him the second highest paid player in the club behind only Cristiano Ronaldo.
