Leipzig’s current boss Domenico Tedesco took charge of the team mid-way through the 2021-22 season and the German tactician is getting ready for his first full season in charge of the Die Roten Bullen. The Bundesliag outfit managed to lift the DFB-Pokal trophy last season and also reached the semi-finals of Europa League where they lost to Rangers. Leipzig have made some new additions to the side, signing Janis Blaswich and Xavier Schlager from Heracles Almelo and Wolfsburg respectively.
After the Southampton game, Tedesco’s side will take on Liverpool in their final friendly before facing Bayern Munich in the DFB-Supercup and then will begin their 2022-23 Bundesliag campaign with a trip to VFB stuttgart. Southampton, on the other hand, will go on to play four more warm-up games against Austria Klagenfurt, Watford, Monaco and Villarreal. The Saints have made a couple of additions to their squad, bringing in Gavin Bazunu and Romeo Lavia from Manchester City, while Armel Bella-Kotchup, Joe Aribo and Mateusz Lis have also arrived at the south Coast ahead of the new season. Silva could lead the attack with Forsberg and Nkunku providing the support. New arrivals Blaswich and Schlager are expected to feature against the Saints. As for Southampton, they are also expected to look at their majority of the squad on Saturday. New signing Bazunzu could start in goal with Stephens and Lyanco in front of him in the central defence.
