Rayos’ nine-game unbeaten run across all competitions came to end against Girona last time out despite taking the lead through Alvaro Garcia Rivera’s fifth-minute opener. Gironistes turned things around thanks to Artem Dovbyk’s 42nd-minute equaliser and Savio’s winner in the 65th-minute, and thereby handed Los Franjirojjos their third league-defeat of the season. Francisco’s side have recorded four top flight wins this term and their last league success came away to Las Palmas last month. Meanwhile, Rayito actually have been quite incredible against Barcelona in the last couple of seasons, unbeaten in the last four encounters, winning four of those clashes, including the last one 2-1 back in April.
Barcelona, on the other hand, have been a bit inconsistent in the last couple of weeks before the international break, recording two wins and as many defeats from their last four outings in all competitions. Barcelona then welcomed Alaves for a league-fixture on November 11 and surprisingly went behind through Samu Omorodian’s first-minute opener. However, Robert Lewandowski’s second-half brace helped the reigning champions secure their ninth league-win of the campaign.
