QPR are preparing to play their fifth friendly of the summer, while the visitors are getting ready for their eighth. The Eagles finished 12th in the Premier League standings last term and despite securing a bottom half position Patrick Veieira’s side were praised for their entertaining brand of playing style. QPR, on the other hand, finished 11th in the 2021-22 Championship standings.

Last Thursday, at Grosvenor Vale, QPR won the match courtesy of a hat-trick by Lyndon Dykes and strikes from Sam Field, Ilias Chair, Kenneth Paal, George Thomas and Macauley Bonne. The Hoops are undefeated in their pre-season so far, beginning with a 3-3 draw at Crawley Town, defeated Zwickau 4-0, played out a 1-1 draw at Hallescher before demolishing Wealdstone in their last game. After the game against Crystal Palace, Michael Beale’s side will begin their new Championship season at Blackburn Rovers on July 30.
Crystal Palace, on the other hand, will also take on Montpellier next Saturday before starting their 2022-23 Premier League campaign at home against Arsenal on August 6. Vieira’s side has won three, drawn two and lost two games this summer. The Eagles have managed to score and conceded 15 goals in their seven friendlies so far. Against Leeds, Jean Philippe Mateta canceled out Rodrigo’s opener to share the spoils at Optus stadium.

QPR boss Michael Beale is likely to opt for a strong starting lineup on Saturday as this will be their final friendly before their Championship opener next week. Summer signing Jake Clarke-Salter is likely to partner Dickie in the central defence. Meanwhile left-back Kenneth Paul, who arrived at the club from Dutch side PEC Zwolle, is expected to feature on Saturday. Tyler Roberts and Luke Amos are still sidelined with injuries. As for Crystal Palace, Christian Benteke, who was on the scoresheet in the win over Gillingham, is likely to be the target-man up front with Wilfried Zaha and Plague playing around him. Schlupp, Doucoure and Guehi could form the midfield-trio.
