Preston are going through bit of a rough patch, having lost five of their last seven outings, while recording just one win in the period. Their last success came away to Huddersfield Town on December 12 thanks to one goal each from Alan Browne, Will Keane and Ben Whiteman. After that, the Invincibles suffered back-to-back defeats against the likes of Watford and Swansea with an aggregate scoreline of 7-2. PNE lost out to the Swans on Saturday despite the fact that Liam Millar got on the scoresheet. It was their ninth second tier defeat of the campaign. Moreover, Ryan Lowe’s side have lost each of their last three fixtures at Deepdale conceding nine goals and scoring just two in the process.
Leeds, on the other hand, produced arguably their best performance of the campaign to thrash Ipswich at the weekend. Pascal Struijk’s eighth minute opener, an own goal from Leif Davis mid-way through the first-half, Crysencio Summerville’s penalty kick on the strike of half-time and Joel Piroe’s icing on the cake seven minutes into the second-half helped the Whites secure their 13th league win of the campaign. Meanwhile, Daniel Farke’s side are now unbeaten in 12 games at Elland Road, but more work is required on their travels, having taken just five points from 11 outings.
