PSG suffered a 2-1 defeat to AC Milan in their last Group F fixture earlier this month, after goals from Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao overturned Milan Skriniar’s early opener at San Siro. It was their second defeat from four Champions League outings this term. After that, Luis Enrique’s side secured backt-to-back Ligue 1 wins over Reims and Monaco, with an aggregate scoreline of 8-2. The Parisians got the better of Les Monegasques 5-2 last time out thanks to one goal each from Gonaclo Ramos, Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele, Vitinha and Randal Kolo Muani. The result extended their winning run to six games in the French top flight, and the capital side are currently occupying top spot in the Ligue 1 standings, with 30 points to their name from 13 games.
Newcastle, on the other hand, have recorded one win, one draw and two defeats from four Group F games so far. Their last Champions League outing ended in a 2-0 defeat away to group leaders Dortmund earlier this month. It was their second successive continental defeat against the Bundesliga outfit, while Eddie Howe’s side were then handed a 2-0 Premier League defeat at Bournemouth on November 11. However, the Magpies managed to bounce back with a dominant 4-2 success away to Chelsea on Saturday courtesy of one goal each from Alexandar Isak, Jamal Lascelles, Joelinton and Anthony Gordon. It was the Magpies’ seventh English top flight victory of the campaign, and they are currently occupying seventh spot in the Premier League table, having pocketed 23 points from 13 games, five adrift of the top four.
