Osasuna will host Sevilla in the Copa del Rey quarter-final fixture at El Sadar on Wednesday night. Both sides were involved in La Liga matches in the weekend, with the hosts playing out a 1-1 draw against Elche, while Sevilla edged past Cadiz 1-0. Despite the win, Los Nervionenses are still languishing at the 15th spot in the Spanish top flight standings, having collected just 18 points from 17 games, just one clear of the relegation zone. Osasuna, meanwhile, are sitting at the seven position, with 28 points to their name, only three adrift of the top-4.

Osasuna are having a solid top flight season, having recorded eight wins and four draws thus far. Los Rojillos have also been pretty good in the Cup competition, having defeated last season’s champions Real Betis in the round of 16 encounter last week. Jagoba Arrasate’s side went behind twice and twice they responded, through David Garcia and Ruben Garcia, to force a nervy penalty shootout at Benito Villamarin last Wednesday. And then, Osasuna prevailed 4-2 winners in the tie breaker. Following the impressive away win in the Cup competition, Los Rojillos traveled to Elche, high on confidence, for a league-fixture but had to settle for a disappointing 1-1 draw against the bottom-placed side. Chimy Avila’s opener was canceled out by Jose Angel Carmona.
Sevilla, on the other hand secured a narrow win over Cadiz on Sunday, courtesy of Ivan Rakitic’s late goal, from the penalty spot. It was only their fourth league-win of the campaign. Prior to that, Jorge Sampoli’s men got the better of Alaves in the last-16 stage of the Copa del Rey, once again through Rakitic’s solitary goal. Boasting six wins from their last eight competitive games across all competitions, Rojiblancos have claimed all four of their Copa del Rey wins away from home. Meanwhile the last meeting between these two sides ended 2-1 in favour of Osasuna, at the start of the 2022-23 campaign.

Osasuna midfielder Moi Gomez suffered a calf strain in the last outing against Elche, and therefore might be forced to start on the bench. Meanwhile, defenders Nacho Vidal and Ruben Pena are sidelined with injuries. Avila could lead the line, with Abde Ezzalzouli and Ruben Garcia in support. As for Sevilla, Alex Telles, Jesus Corona and Marcao are occupying the treatment room, while Papu Gomez and Thomas Delaney are set to return after recovering from injuries. Morocco international En-Nesyri is likely to spearhead the attack, with Erik Lamela and Suso in support.
