Nottingham began their pre-season with a narrow 109 win over Notts County on July 15 before traveling to Spain for a week long training camp. After losing1-0 to Valencia in their second warm-up game on July 18, the Reds managed to get the better of Levante thanks to first half efforts from Ryan Yates and Danilo. Although the Spanish outfit pulled one back through Alejandro Cantero and Forest managed to hold on to the slender lead and come away with a win. Meanwhile, the Reds have friendlies lined up against the likes of PSV Eindhoven, Rennes and Eintracht Frankfurt before beginning their second straight Premier League campaign away to Arsenal on August 12.
Leeds, on the other hand, are back in the Championship for the first time since the 2019-20 season. United will be desperate to return to the English top flight on the first time of asking under the stewardship of newly appointed manager Daniel Farke. That said, The German tactician has endured a disappointing start to life at Leeds, suffering a 2-0 defeats against Manchester United and Monaco. On Saturday, the Peacocks lost out to the Ligue 1 outfit courtesy of second half efforts from Wissam Ben Yedder and Kevin Volland. Therefore the new manager will be eager to get off the mark when his side take on Forest. After the game against the Reds, the Whites will play one more friendly with Scottish club Hearts before beginning their race for promotion at home to Cardiff City on August 5.
