Brighton & Hove Albion will be looking to get back to winning ways when they travel to City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest in a Premier League fixture on Wednesday. The Seagulls lost out to Manchester United 7-6 on penalties in the FA Cup semi-final clash on Sunday, while the hosts are heading into the match on the back of a 3-2 League-defeat away to Liverpool. As of now, Brighton are occupying eighth spot in the English top flight standings, having collected 49 points from 29 games, five points adrift of fifth-placed Aston Villa, who have played four games more. The visitors, meanwhile, are languishing at the 19th position, with 27 points to their name from 32 matches, just two adrift of safety, but have a game in hand over 17th-placed Leicester City.

Nottingham showed great character to come-from-behind twice on Saturday, with Neco Williams and Morgan Gibbs-White finding the back of the net at Anfield. But Mohamed Salah’s 70th-minute effort handed Forest their 17th league-defeat of the season. The result extended their winless run to 11 games in the top flight, while losing eight times in the period. Having won just six league-games this term, with their last success coming against Leeds United back in February, the Tricky Tress will definitely need to record couple of positive results from their remaining six games to have any chance of extending their stay in the Premier League to at least one more season.
Brighton, on the other hand, can count themselves very unfortunate to have lost Sunday’s FA cup semi-final against the Red Devils at Wembley Stadium, having 61% of ball possession, recording 15 shots with six of them on target. However, Eric Ten Hag’s side managed to force the game into penalties thanks to David de Gea’s brilliance in goal, and then prevailed in the tiebreaker. Nevertheless, Seagulls have plenty to play for between now and the end of the season, as they find themselves ten points shy of the top four with as many as three games in hand. Roberto De Zerbi’s side have lost only one of their last seven top flight matches, while winning four times. Their latest victory came away to Chelsea (2-1) on April 15 courtesy of Danny Welbeck’s 42nd-minute opener and Julio Enciso’s winner 20 minutes from time. Meanwhile, Brighton have the fourth-best away record in the Premier League this season, collecting 25 points from 15 matches on the road.
