Sevilla will host Fenerbahce in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Thursday night. The hosts finished third in the UEFA Champions League Group G and had to settle for a place in the Europa League playoff, where they overcame PSV Eindhoven 3-2 on aggregate to reach this far in the competition. Fenerbahce, meanwhile, earned a direct qualification to the round of 16 stage of Europe’s second tier tournament, courtesy of securing top spot in Group B. Meanwhile, Sevilla are heading into the match on the back of a disappointing 6-1 La Liga-defeat away to Atletico Madrid in the weekend, while the visitors got the better of Kayserispor 2-1 in the Turkish Super Lig on the same day.

Sevilla suffered a 2-0 defeat in the second leg against PSV, but a 3-0 win in the home leg meant that the Spanish outfit went through to the last-16 with a 3-2 aggregate win. But Jorge Sampaoli’s men have lost their last two outings against Osasuna and Athletic in the league. Having taken just one point from their last three top flight games, the Red-Whites are languishing at the 17th spot in the Spanish top flight standings, with just 25 points to their name from 24 games.
Fenerbahce, on the other hand, are sitting at the second spot in the Turkish Super Lig table, having collected 51 points from 23 games, six adrift of leaders Galatasaray. Due to the devastating earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria last month, Turkish football was on halt for more than four weeks, and top flight action resumed last week. Fenerbahce got the better of Kayserispor in their first competitive match in nearly five weeks, thanks to Enner Valencia’s sixth-minute opener and a second-half strike by Ferdi Kadioglu. Meanwhile, the Yellow Canaries had a dominant Europa League group-stage campaign, recording four wins and two draws to collect 14 points, two more than second-placed Rennes.
Sevilla Probable line-up: Bounou, Nianzou, Fernando, Gudelj, Navas, Jordan, Rakitic, Acuna, Gil, Torres, En-Nesyri
Fenerbahce Probable line-up: Bayinder, Kadioglu, Akaydin, Szalai, Lincoln, Guler, Arao, Rossi, Crespo, Valencia, King
