Mesut Ozil, who is known by his fans as the “Assist King” has just announced his retirement from professional football. Ozil is widely recognized as one of the most creative and technically gifted attacking midfielders of his generation. He began his professional career at Schalke 04 and made his debut in 2006, but it was his time at Werder Bremen that earned him a reputation, winning the DFB-Pokal and being named the Bundesliga’s best midfielder in 2010. He then moved to Real Madrid in 2010, where he won the La Liga title, Spanish Super Cup, and Copa del Rey, cementing his status as a star player.

In 2013, Mesut Ozil transferred from Real Madrid to Arsenal for a club-record fee of £42.5 million, following a successful stint in Madrid that lasted for three seasons. At Arsenal, he quickly became a fan favourite, helping the club to end a nine-year trophy drought by winning the FA Cup in his debut season. Ozil was a crucial player for Arsenal over the next few years, making valuable contributions with numerous assists and goals, which played a part in the club’s success in winning two more FA Cups. Unforgettable assist for Cristiano Ronaldo in Clasico

In August 2010, Ozil made a high-profile transfer from Werder Bremen to Spanish giants Real Madrid. He quickly became a fan favourite at the Los Blancos, scoring 27 goals and providing 81 assists for his teammates. However, Ozil will always be remembered for his stunning assist to Cristiano Ronaldo which helped Real Madrid win 2-1 at Camp Nou that helped them clinch the La Liga title. He also won the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey with the team.

During his time at Real Madrid, Ozil won the La Liga title in the 2011-12 season, where Real Madrid scored 100 points and scored 121 goals, they were one of the finest counter attacking team in Europe at that time and arguably the best team in Europe that season.
