The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a hard-fought 1-1 away to Real Madrid last Saturday, while Sevilla ended up on the losing side of a five-goal thriller against Osasuna, a day later.
Atletico Madrid will be bidding to extend their unbeaten run in La Liga to eight games when they host Sevilla at Metropolitano on Saturday night. The hosts are heading into the match on the back of a hard-fought 1-1 draw against the reigning champions and city rivals Real Madrid last Saturday, while Sevilla ended up on the losing side of a five-goal thriller against Osasuna, a day later. Atletico are currently occupying fourth spot in the Spanish top flight standings, having collected 42 points from 23 games, just two clear of their nearest challengers Real Betis. The visitors, meanwhile, are languishing at the 15th position, with 25 points to their name, only two above the relegation zone.

Atletico were on the verge of securing a thrilling victory in the Madrid derby at Santiago Bernabeu as Jose Gimenez broke the deadlock against the run of play at 78th-minute. But Alvaro Rodriguez came off the bench to score the equalser five minutes from time. Diego Simeone’s side managed to earn a point despite playing the majority of the second half with 10 men after Angel Correa was sent off in the 64th minute. The result extended their unbeaten run to seven games in the top flight. Having collected 15 points during the unbeaten run, the Red and Whites are now just one point behind third-placed Real Sociedad. Los Colchoneros have no European football for the rest of the campaign, while they have also been knocked out of the Copa del Rey, so their only focus is on securing a top-four position in La Liga.
Sevilla, on the other hand, are going through one of their worst La Liga seasons in their near history, as they are languishing near the relegation zone. The Red-Whites have finished fourth in each of their last three La Liga campaigns, while they have not placed lower than ninth since a 10th place finish 20 years ago. Jorge Sampaoli’s side lost to Osasuna last Sunday, despite the fact that Nemanja Gudelj and Youssef En-Nesyri found the back of the net at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. It was their 10th league-defeat of the season. Nevertheless, Sevillistas Rojiblancos managed to book their spot in the last-16 stage of the Europa League, courtesy of securing a 3-2 aggregate win over PSV Eindhoven last month.
Atletico forward Correa, who was sent off in the Madrid derby will not be available for Saturday’s game. Full-back Nahuel Molina is also banned due to the booking he picked up in the same match, while Reinildo suffered a serious knee injury and won’t be available for the rest of the season. Midfielders Sergio Reguilon and Rodrigo de Paul are also occupying the medical room. As for Sevilla, Loic Bade, Karim Rekik, Papu Gomez and Jesus Manuel Corona are sidelined with injuries, while Fernando is out with a red card suspension. En-Nesyri will continue to lead the line, with Erik Lamela and Torres in support.
Atletico Madrid probable line-up: Oblak, Doherty, Gimenez, Savic, Hermoso, Llorente, Koke, Barrios, Carrasco Griezmann, Morata
Sevilla Probable line-up: Bounou, Nianzou, Gudelj, Telles, Navas, Rakitic, Gueye, Acuna, Lamela, En-Nesyri, Torres
