Liverpool summer recruit Ibrahima Konate has hailed his club teammates for helping him settle down quickly at Anfield. The 22-year-old centre-half, who arrived in the summer from RB Leipzig, helped record successive clean sheets against Crystal Palace and Norwich City, in his first two competitive appearances for the Reds. Next up is a visit to Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday. Ahead of the meeting with Thomas Frank’s newly promoted team, Konate told Liverpoolfc.com about the two competitive games he has now played for the club “I played two games and the team played very well. The fans helped us – that was very, very great for me and for my family. I am very happy to be here,” he added.

“I think I played well but the more important [thing] is how the team was – if we won, if we had a clean sheet or not. That is more important for me and not my personal game,” he said. Speaking about his settling-in period, Ibrahima Konate said, “Every player helped me in this team when I came the first day, to be like at my home. This was very important for a new player and for me. Now, I think every player can see this on the pitch: I am very happy to be with every player. This is good and I hope this will continue in the future.”

Ibrahima Konate: I cannot stay at home

When asked whether he has grown close to any teammates, Konate replied, “Maybe Sadio, Naby and Div Origi, because they speak French and it’s easier to speak with them. They helped me very well when I arrived at the club.” Speaking about the city of Liverpool, he said, “Of course, I cannot stay at home. I am in a new city and I need to know how the city is where I am. I love the city. I was in the city centre. And where I live, not so far in the car I have the sea – very beautiful. And yes, it’s nice – very nice.”

Ibrahima Konate also opened up about how he is learning from the other centre-halves at the club. “I learn about Virg, Joe, Nat, Joel since the first day when I arrived at the club because I play with very good defenders and I train with them. But I think I can learn about all the players of this team. I need to improve every day and this is good. I am with big players in this team and I can just learn every day,” he explained.

This weekend is Brentford for Liverpool in the Premier League. When asked about how the Crystal Palace game probably showed no game in the league is an easy one, Ibrahima replied, “Of course, but I knew this already because before I watched some games in the Premier League and sometimes you can see the last can win against the first of the Premier League. When I played this game against Crystal Palace, you know the team against who you play, they know they can win against you. They don’t care who you are. I think this is good in the Premier League – every game is difficult. The game against Brentford will be also difficult and we have to be ready for this game.”
