Middlesbrough came from 2-0 down to earn a point against Bristol City at Ashton Gate on Monday, thanks to second-half efforts from Aaron Ramsey and Matt Crooks. The result extended Boro’s winless run to three games, losing two times in that period. The dip in form has realistically cost Michael Carrick’s side the opportunity to challenge for automatic promotion. Boro have recorded 20 second tier victories this season and their latest success came against Preston North End last month, thanks to four unanswered goals through Chuba Akpom’s opener, Cameron Archer’s brace and a late strike from Marcus Forss. Meanwhile, Middlesbrough have the third-best home record in the Championship this season, having taken 39 points from a possible 60 at Riverside Stadium.

Norwich City, on the other hand, have been pretty good away from home, recording nine wins, five draws and six defeats from 20 league-matches on the road this season. Meanwhile, the Canaries have somehow remained in the playoff race despite winning only one of their last six matches in the second tier. Last Friday, Norwich secured a comprehensive 2-0 win away to sixth-placed Rovers, courtesy of goals from Liam Gibbs and Gabriel Sara. It was their 17th league-win of the season. But after that, David Wagner’s side were forced the share the spoils against 18th-placed Rotherham United the Carrow Road, despite having close to 70% ball possession and attempting 21 shots with four of them on target.
