Middlesbrough went into the game against Huddersfield on the back of a four-game unbeaten streak, that included three wins, but surprisingly succumbed to their 12th league-defeat of the season, despite the fact that Marcus Forss and Chuba Akpom found the back of the net. Prior to that, Michael Carrick’s side thrashed Preston North End in front of their own supporters thanks to Akpom’s 22nd-minute opener, Cameron Archer’s second-half brace and a 95th-minute strike by Forss. It was the Boro’s 20th second tier victory of the season and 11th success on home turf, taking their tally to 42 points from 19 league-matches at Riverside Stadium.
Burnley, on the other hand, have the second best away-record in the second tier this term, having collected an impressive 36 points from a possible 54 on the road. Their last win came away to Hull City(3-1), thanks to Nathan Tella’s hat-trick at MKM Stadium. It was Burnley’s 24th league-win of the season. But after that, Kompany’s side suffered a humbling 6-0 defeat to reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in the FA Cup just before the international break. Kompany’s side failed to come out on top in their return to Championship action last Friday as they were forced to share the spoils at home to Sunderland. The Clarets drew a blank at the Turf Moor for the first-time since the 2-0 loss to Man City in the Premier League almost 12 months ago. On a positive note, Burnley managed to secure a 3-1 win over the Boro in the reverse fixture in December last year thanks to Manuel Benson’s brace and an own goal by Jonathan Howson.

Burnley probable starting lineup: Muric, Roberts, Harwood-Bellis, Beyer, Maatsen, Cullen, Brownhill, Benson, Tella, Zaroury, Obafemi
