The second Le Classique of this month is set to take place on Sunday night, with Marseille hosting Paris Saint-German in a Ligue 1 fixture at Stade Velodrome. Both sides are heading into the match on the back of thrilling victories in high-scoring games last Sunday, with the hosts getting the better of Lille 4-3, while Marseille defeated Toulouse 3-2. As of now, PSG are occupying top spot in the French top flight standings, having collected 57 points from 24 games. Marseille, meanwhile, are sitting one place behind the Parisians, separated by just five points.

Marseille have been in stunning form of late having won each of their last three games in all competitions, and that includes a 2-1 win over Sunday’s opponents in the least-16 stage of the French Cup, more than 2 weeks ago. Last time out, the Olympians got the better of Toulouse in the league, courtesy of second half efforts from Chancel Mangulu, Cengiz Under and Nuno Tavares. It was their 16th league-win of the season.  Meanwhile their home form hasn’t been very great this season, winning just three of their eight Ligue 1 fixtures at Stade Velodrome.

PSG, on the other hand, have lost three of their last four games in all competitions, and two of those defeats have been away from home. Last time out, the Parisians returned to winning ways against Lille, despite conceding three times through Bafode Diakite, Jonathan David and Janathan Bamba. PSG forward Kylian Mbappe netted either side of Neymar’s goal to make the score 3-3, before Lionel Messi struck the winner with a stunning free-kick, five minutes into the injury time. The 35-year-old Argentine superstar’s effort cannoned off the post at Parc des Princes to help the Parisians register their 10th league-win of the season.
