Manchester United supporters were treated to an exciting development of their star forward Marcus Rashford signing a new contract with the club. The Academy graduate has put pen to paper on a deal that will extend his stay with the club until June 2028. With not long left in his contract, the latest development will be a treat to United supporters. Rashford was at the form of his life last season, scoring 30 goals in all competitions to help Erik ten Hag have a positive first campaign as the club’s manager.

Marcus Rashford, who joined the club at the age of seven, spoke about the honour of wearing the club’s jersey every time he steps out on to the pitch. “I joined Manchester United as a seven-year-old boy with a dream. That same passion, pride, and determination to succeed still drives me every time I have the honour of wearing the shirt. I’ve already had some amazing experiences at this incredible club, but there is still a lot more to achieve and I remain relentlessly determined to win more trophies in the years ahead,” he was quoted as saying by the club’s website.

“As a United fan all my life, I know the responsibility that comes with representing this badge and feel the highs and lows as much as anyone. I can assure you that I will give everything to help the team reach the level we are capable of, and I can feel the same determination around the dressing room. I couldn’t be more excited for the future under this manager.”

I’m happy to be here: Marcus Rashford

The English international is happy in the direction at which the club is going and is keen to win major trophies with the Old Trafford outfit. “I think it’s quite obvious that I’m happy to be here. I feel like the team’s going in the right direction, so I’m just fully focused on trying to win the biggest trophies for the club and trying to play my part in helping the team to grow and build,” he told former United defender Wes Brown.

“And, at the same time, I feel like it’s the right place for me to keep developing and growing as a person and as a player. So, I’m happy. I’m looking forward to the next five years and, hopefully, we can bring a lot more success,” added Rashford, who has made 359 appearances and scored 123 goals for the club.

Rashford is also confident of enjoying success with Manchester United, as he spoke about the manager’s mentality. “He [Erik ten Hag] is ambitious and he’ll try to win everything. So that’s always going to be the aim. And I think that has to be the aim at this club. We don’t want to play in the league to just get into the top four. We want to do our best to try to win it. And I think we’ve definitely got the squad and the staff to do it,” said Rashford, who made his debut in 2016.

“We need to believe in ourselves that we can do it and compete over the period of 38 games in the league. And that’s the biggest thing, getting the consistency and the pattern of winning games. But we have to start the season right. Last season, we didn’t start the season right. So that’s the first thing that we need to make sure we do.”
