The game of the weekend will take place at Old Trafford when Manchester United host Liverpool in a FA Cup quarter-final fixture. The contest will be heavily in favour of the visitors. It is a tag that the Reds have earned deservedly with their impressive form this season. Liverpool have been one of the teams to keep an eye out for this campaign. The Reds have made life difficult for any opponent that has come their way.

Liverpool have already won a trophy this season, with the Carabao Cup success over Chelsea in the final. Besides, they are in the middle of a tightly-fought Premier League title race, where Arsenal and Manchester City are also in the mix. Add to it, Jurgen Klopp’s side are also going strong in the FA Cup and Europa League. Hence, their supporters can be optimistic of having a grand finish to Jurgen Klopp’s final season at the club.

On the other hand, it has not been easy for Manchester United. The Red Devils have been struggling for consistency for most of the season. After suffering early cup eliminations from the Carabao Cup and Europa League, United are far behind in the Premier League top-four race. Hence, the FA Cup represents their only chance of winning a trophy this season. Despite United’s struggles, Klopp is expecting nothing but a difficult challenge against them.

Jurgen Klopp on Manchester United

In his pre-match press conference, Klopp was asked whether he enjoys facing Man United. The Liverpool manager, quoted on the club’s website, said, “I am looking forward to it, though I’m not sure that’s exactly what you call enjoyment. But I’m looking forward to it. It’s a good thing. We can take 9,000 people, I think? More tickets, 9,000 people at Old Trafford, Manchester United, that’s definitely… ask me after the game if I enjoyed it.”

He added: “But before the game, it’s just work and we try to be as good prepared as somehow possible. This situation that now we played again yesterday but we could handle it and United obviously had a full week to prepare. Erik ten Hag is a really good manager. He will prepare them, he knows exactly how we play, so there we will face some challenges we don’t know in the moment, that’s how it is. We don’t have this time to prepare like this for an opponent and have to be ready anyway. Yes, as much as it’s possible, I enjoy it.”

Klopp further stated that Old Trafford is always a tough place to visit, as he understands how much the fixture means to both sets of supporters. “I don’t know too much about their season but I saw a few really, really good games. There’s a lot of quality there. They had injury problems obviously as well but a lot of quality. I don’t know which players are available – maybe Rasmus Hojlund is available again, I think [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka and some others were not available recently, that obviously makes a difference as well.”

He further added: “We will see that on Sunday. But again, it was always a tough place to go for us, it’s not easy. It means everything to both fan groups, it means absolutely everything – we know that – [and] we try to show that on the pitch as well with the work-rate, but you never know. There are no guarantees, just opportunities. That’s how we see it and we are really willing to give it a try.”
